Although gardens are enjoyed mostly during the day, with the correct lighting, they can look quite spectacular at night.
Look at the sky
In my opinion, the best time for a garden is at dusk – that special time when the sun has departed, but it isn’t quite dark. At this time, the sky becomes a special hue of blue. With the naked eye, it looks like a very dark blue, but through the camera lens it’s more like a royal blue.
These shrubs look pretty ordinary during the day
At this time, the light hides the imperfections in the garden and everything has a romantic tinge. Trees and shrubs look like silhouettes, and architectural plants simply look stunning with proper lighting.
When we photograph our gardens, we take day and night shots and the results are amazing.
So when planning your garden, think carefully about the night effect and light it up effectively to create that special effect.
